A medical card is still needed to purchase cannabis sold as part of the medical cannabis program. If you’ve never applied for a medical marijuana card, the process may feel a bit daunting. There are several steps you must complete prior to qualifying for your card. Fortunately, the state of Maryland has developed a streamlined registration system designed to help local residents gain relief.
1. Create an account with the Maryland Cannabis Administration
Before you meet with a physician, you must create an account with the Maryland Cannabis Administration. You’ll need to provide a valid email address, your social security number, an electronic copy of a US government-issued ID card, and proof of a Maryland address.

2. Get written certification from a registered physician
Once your application is approved, Maryland residents are required to visit a registered physician to obtain written certification. Keep in mind, your certification must be filled within 120 days. Treatable conditions include anorexia, chronic pain, wasting syndrome, severe pain, severe nausea, PTSD, and many more.
