Happy Terpene Tuesday from your favorite Blair fam! Today, we’re talking Terpinolene – calm, cognitive clarity.
Terpinolene is a mono-terpene most known for it’s citrus and pine scent as well as relaxing effects. It is also found in tea tree, conifers, and lilac. Unlike many other terpenes, it is not a pain reliever or anti-inflammatory. Instead, terpinolene works as a central nervous system depressant, meaning it can help to reduce anxiety and promote drowsiness. It has powerful anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties, particularly against E. coli and staphylococcus bacteria. Studies have shown terpinolene to be an effective anti-proliferate in reducing cancer cells as well as an effective treatment for heart disease due to it’s ability to prevent the oxidation of low density proteins.
